Finally Settled...

We’ve been working hard since getting into the new place to make it feel like home. Finally, we’re just about done though!! No more asking “Babe, do you remember which box I packed my bikini in?” or “Have you seen the box with the remotes?” or best of all…no more tripping on boxes in the middle of the night!! The new place finally has our touch on it, and it looks great!

Sometimes being a grown-up rocks!

So I haven't written in awhile. If you've been following me on Twitter or on Facebook, you'll have noticed I have had a rough June. My dad passed away on June 11, and 13 days later, my grandfather also passed away. I know deep down, they are both in a better place, and are both together, looking down on me. I also know they would be disappointed if I stopped writing, so I'm back at it... When I was a little girl, I had all these glamorous dreams about being an adult. Staying up late, sleeping in, going to parties, and having the freedom to eat whatever you want for dinner. In my fantasies, bills, work, and real life didn’t exist, clearly! While staying up late is a regular occurrence in my life (sometimes for fun, sometimes for work), sleeping in almost never happens, not even on days off. The one thing I can always count on though is being able to have WHATEVER I want for dinner

My last day!

So I finally jumped shipped and am following my dreams! That’s right, no more office manager work for this girl! No more printing invoices, making shipping labels, answering phones, or making coffee. No more being the only woman in an office full of men! Don’t get me wrong, I am beyond grateful for the time I spent with my previous company and understand just how valuable the skills I learned while working there truly are, but finally, after all my years in the working world, I’m doing something I am actually excited for.

For the Irish in all of us

Not once in my adult life, or even from what I can remember, my childhood have I celebrated St. Patrick’s Day. I understand that on St. Patty’s Day, everyone is Irish, I just never got into it. Maybe it’s because I’ve worked the last 7 St. Patty’s days. Maybe it’s because I don’t drink beer, especially cheap beer that has green food coloring in it. Maybe it’s because I never really liked corned beef and cabbage (although now I could eat cabbage all by itself). Maybe it’s because I own nothing green. Nothing. Well…maybe a pair of panties. Hold on…let me check………nope, not even a pair of green panties.

Little Bit of This...Little Bit of THAT

So I’ve been a little stressed the last few weeks. And when I’m stressed, there are four things that either take my mind off the reasons for stress or help me cope with the stress. Baking, cleaning, writing, and um…well…I’m sure you can guess the last one.

And the Secret Ingredient Is...

If you live in the Chicago-land area, you have to be familiar with Portillos. They are most famously known for their Italian Beef sandwiches, dripping in au jus so the bread is nothing but a spongy mess of absolute deliciousness…mmmmm, one of the best hangover cures, hands down (although that burger in Napa was pretty close!). Not to mention their super yummy, grease running down your chin, slippery, cheese burgers. Uh-huh! Awe-some!

Goin' to California

I don’t think I’ve told you the awesome news yet...I’m going to Napa for five days next week. OMG I’m so excited!!! Not only is this going to be a trip of a lifetime, but I can really use it. My last real vacation was like 5 years ago. This trip came about at the perfect time, see, I’m just a teeny tiny bit stressed at work. Okay, maybe a little bit more than teeny tiny. Maybe a whole lot. Like enough to want to just walk away and forget the place. Not quite enough to give my two weeks, but close...

Feels just like warm apple pie...

Remember being terrified to swallow seeds from apples when you were younger? I do! I was always so scared that swallowing an apple seed would lead to apple trees growing in my tummy. I’m sure I have my crazy uncle to thank for that one. The stories he used to tell me!! Monsters in the heating vents, snakes in the toilet, and sharks in the bathtub (I still feel a little vulnerable when I’m relaxing in the bath)!!! Anyway, I’m sure at some point in my formative years, he told me trees would grow in my belly if I ate a seed.
