I understand that on St. Patty’s Day, everyone is Irish, I just never got into it. Maybe it’s because I’ve worked the last 7 St. Patty’s days. Maybe it’s because I don’t drink beer, especially cheap beer that has green food coloring in it. Maybe it’s because I never really liked corned beef and cabbage (although now I could eat cabbage all by itself). Maybe it’s because I own nothing green. Nothing. Well…maybe a pair of panties. Hold on…let me check………nope, not even a pair of green panties.

Waking up slowly, no alarms, snuggling up with someone. The smell of coffee in the air, knowing you can take your sweet time making your way into the kitchen to make something scrumptious for breakfast. For me, sleeping in is Sunday morning, which is also my ‘calories don’t count’ day. Talk about a great combination!

I’m turning over a new, cleaner, flour free leaf this year.

Nothing tops spending a day by the pool, then coming home to throw something on the grill. The smoky flavor that subtle comes through the taste of whatever marinade you decide to put on your meat or fish…the juices of a burger sizzling over the hot coals…that slightly charred smell that signals perfection. Mmmmmm…I can almost smell the fire!

I know, I know, I know. I always say I’ll post more, and then I don’t. There has been a little bit of a family crisis going on. Well, actually, a big one. My grandfather has been in the hospital, in ICU, for the last three weeks, so all my free time has been spent driving to my hometown and sitting in his room, talking to him, holding his hand, and trying to help out as much as possible. That hasn’t left room for cooking or writing.

I know it is the traditional Christmas/Holiday drink, but I’m not a fan of just any creamy drink. Especially ones with eggs in them. Every time I’d pass by the eggnog in the dairy section, my tummy would turn just a little bit.
